The news and the media represent two very different things. It is not necessarily clear what is news and what is not. The two are often confused.
First of all, there are three major types of media, namely: print, broadcast, and online media. The print media, like newspapers, magazines, and the like, are traditionally seen as the oldest medium of news dissemination. These consist of radio, television, and newspaper. Television is a form of the Internet, which is, by definition, “The use of broadcasting equipment or a communications network for the transmission of audio or visual signals in a form that can be received by subscribers.” The Internet is a “hypermedia,” which means it combines text, graphics, animations, and interactivity.
Broadcasting is a type of media that broadcasts. The most famous example is broadcasting television shows. Most of the modern forms of this medium are webcasts, but there are some websites that actually broadcast television shows on their website. Internet broadcasting has existed for a long time. Some television stations have their own websites where they can stream television programs directly to their audience.
Broadcast media are often confused with online media, because they usually consist of broadcasted videos or news broadcasts on websites and similar “social media” platforms. Online journalism is considered a form of blogging, but it is also often considered a form of broadcasting. The latter is not so much the case, however. Blogging is more of a literary genre, but online journalism is a technology-oriented genre that include news, reviews, opinion pieces, and other sorts of media that disseminate news.
While the media used in traditional form of broadcasting is still widely used, the use of the new forms of online broadcasting has become increasingly widespread. There are many websites that broadcast news, as well as blogs. The popularity of social media websites, such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and others has increased significantly as well.
There is no one single form of news dissemination, but these three forms the major categories. Of course, there are other types of media, and many more, including radio, television, print, and online journalism, but this is a quick overview of the main types of news dissemination. Today’s world can be very unpredictable and there are many sources of news and information available to people, including books, blogs, the Internet, television, newspapers, magazines, and even television.
